hut in the alps: This project was initiated when a friends hut
was destroyed by an avalenche. This was during the first winter of my
studies in architecture. The initial design was a hundert meters away
from the actual place where it is standing now. In fact, we aimed to
reconstruct the old hut as the basement was still intact. For legal
and zoning reasons this reconstruction was prohibited and the project
laid on ice for several seasons. Finally, we had the possibility to swap
the ground with a farmer, which allowed us to build the hut you can see
on the pictures. The design of the built hut was mainly made by Andri.
But, and that was really fantastic, he invited me to erect the building.
During two weeks, in summer 2002, Andri, the local carpenter Christli
Messmer and I assembled the logs that form the walls and finished with
the roof just before the tiler arrived to put the schist.
